My beautiful Byron,

What a time we live in. How I would have loved to talk to you directly about what is going on. But I can’t, as you will be able to read later in this letter where I copy my most recent attempt in getting heard by a Family court, thanks to British Family law.

I guess your school will be closed by now and you will be stuck at home? I stay in touch with your school thanks to their thoughtful encouragement. And see that yours, like every other school in Britain and America, is closed or closing. The Laguna Beach schools have been closed for over a week now. Mason is back from University, because all the colleges are closed as well. They do ‘remote’ lectures. All done online. In Orange County, we have a total lockdown. Nothing except ‘vital service’ is allowed to open. Wieke, Masons mum, is closing her surgery from midday. Until April 3rd. This is happening countrywide. The entire USA is going into Lock down. Except a few Republican states where they are exceptionally dumb. And say they will do as they please because they want to be free. But in California, and all states where people are not dumb as numb nuts. social distancing is the order of the day. No closer than 6 feet from anyone. And stay home. The brief is to act as if you are carrying the virus.

The effects of this pandemic shutdown are twofold. Firstly, in terms of getting on with life. People are losing money while their businesses are closed, students are missing out on education time and the markets have tumbled so anyone with savings or a pension or a stock portfolio is crying in the columns of red.
