Released on August 21 by Andrew Brel Music, Crackling Fire, Falling Rain is a three hour work incorporating 432 Hz Binaural beats and Delta Waves. A combination of frequencies that helps me find calm center in times of chaos. I play this music on repeat all day while I work. It helps direct my focus on what I am doing. I think it impacts on my wellness and function for reasons that relate to the four component parts;

Binaural beats, 432 Hz, Delta Waves, Solfeggio composition.

Binaural beats are an auditory illusion created when two different sound frequencies are played, one in each ear, causing the brain to perceive a third, pulsing tone. This perceived tone can influence brainwave activity, impacting mood, focus, and sleep. When its done well, Binaural beats help reduce anxiety and improve sleep hygiene. Using headphones to listen to this music assists its effectiveness, especially as a sleep meditation.

Frequencies measured by Hertz. Hertz (Hz) is the unit of frequency, representing how many times a repeating event occurs per second. A frequency of 1 Hz means one cycle or event happens every second. In popular Western Music 440 Hz is considered the standard tuning pitch. Its what the piano tuner will usually tune your piano to.
432 Hz is a frequency that we find by trial and error impacts on relaxation.
432 Hz mimics patterns found in nature, which promotes feeling of wellness, often assisting with sleep and improved focus. Many people find 432 Hz resonant music to be calming.

Different frequencies produce different outcomes on the brain. I have chosen to focus the songs on this recording in the 432 Hz range because it works for me. Especially when its a constant, playing for many hours.

The Science of Brainwaves
/ Delta Waves. The EEG (electroencephalograph) measures brain waves of different frequencies within the brain. Electrodes detect and record the electrical impulses within the brain. A frequency is the number of times a wave repeats itself within a second. There are five brainwaves of interest in this type of music. If any of these frequencies are deficient, excessive, or difficult to access, our mental performance is impacted. Conversely, in a better balance, our mental performance benefits.

There are five Brainwaves, in terms of frequency bands, in descending order from highest frequency:
GAMMA (greater than 30Hz)
BETA (13-30Hz)
ALPHA (8-12 Hz)
THETA (4-8 Hz)
DELTA (less than 4 Hz)

The 13Hz frequency, part of the alpha and beta range, is particularly important for active intelligence, focused attention, and cognitive tasks that require concentration and information processing, according to research.
Individuals with learning disabilities and attention problems, such as those with ADHD, may show reduced 13Hz activity in certain brain areas. This deficiency can manifest as difficulties with sequencing tasks, mathematical calculations, and maintaining focus.

Delta waves are a type of brainwave with the lowest frequency and highest amplitude, most prominently observed during deep sleep (stages 3 and 4 of NREM sleep). They are associated with deep relaxation, unconsciousness, and restorative bodily functions. Delta waves are the hallmark of the deepest stages of sleep, crucial for physical and mental restoration. Delta waves are associated with hormonal release that aids in muscle, nerve, and organ repair.  They are also present during anesthesia and other states of diminished consciousness. Delta waves are an important component of effective Sleep Music. Incorporating frequencies below 4 Hz creates a relaxing effect associated with Delta Waves

Other disorders frequently associated with disrupted delta-wave activity include: Narcolepsy / Depression / Anxiety / Obsessive–compulsive disorder / Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and its three subtypes.

Solfeggio
“Do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti” are the solfège syllables representing the notes of the major scale. Beginning in the 11th century, Solfège was a system for teaching musical pitch and sight-singing. The syllables are used to help musicians understand and remember melodies. New age music composers adapted Solfeggio principles to assign specific tones to various aspects that may affect the conscious and subconscious mind in healing and wellness relating to mind and body.

Solfeggio frequencies in this meditative wellness context have have been used in chants for many centuries, becoming more popular in meditation music in the 1970s by the use of numeral reduction to identify six measurable tones that influence the mind and body balance in positive ways. The Solfeggio frequencies began as a set of six musical tones associated with frequency related healing properties. Evolved from Do reh mi fah so la ti, the major scale. In meditation music Solfeggio frequencies are associated with specific wellness benefits for mind and body.

Initially, the six frequencies (396 Hz, 417 Hz, 528 Hz, 639 Hz, 741 Hz, and 852 Hz) were associated with specific healing properties. Later, three more frequencies (174 Hz, 285 Hz, and 963 Hz) were added, completing the set of nine. These additional frequencies were found to have distinct therapeutic benefits, expanding the scope of potential healing applications in the general category of healing sound frequencies.

Here’s a breakdown of each frequency and its associated benefits:

  • 174 Hz: Pain relief and relaxation.
  • 285 Hz: Tissue healing and cellular regeneration.
  • 396 Hz: Liberating guilt and fear, promoting positive change.
  • 417 Hz: Facilitating change, removing negative energy, and enhancing creativity.
  • 528 Hz: DNA repair, promoting peace, love, and harmony.
  • 639 Hz: Connecting with others, strengthening relationships, and fostering love.
  • 741 Hz: Cleansing and detoxification, promoting self-expression and intuition.
  • 852 Hz: Awakening intuition and ethereal connection, restoring energy flow.
  • 963 Hz: Connecting with the mystic and promoting enlightenment

Although undoubtedly the genre of Meditation music allows for some unscientific claims that are unrealistic, in my experience of music, numbers, the major scale and frequencies repeating in a cycle, combining these elements harmoniously has a tremendously beneficial effect on thinking clearly. I have been using this form of musical composition for many years with a positive outcome, especially with sleep hygiene and focus during information processing tasks benefiting from clarity.

I have been working in musical composition using these various components for many years, since my first album in this New Age genre in 2001. This is my fifteenth album since 2001, reflecting my adventures with this style of musical composition.
