wally Working dog.

People often ask what Schnautzers are bred for. There is no single correct answer to this question, because we tend to be rather talented dogs - with a variety of choices in life. Personally I am partial to a bit of healing as a career path, although occasionally I dabble in music production. Heres a case in point.

Brian started writing to me about his girlfiend Bonnie. They met to the sound of Leo Sayers song 'When I need you'. After three years of dating Brian was setting up the big 'proposal' day, and he thought Leo should be present. Knowing that Tito and me are like 'this', Brian asked if I would have a word. Tito told me about Leo's schedule (He's actually quite busy you know) so I contrived a plan to make the situation work.

I got my dad to set up a recording session, and booked Leo to come down. They spent a day making a fantastic version of 'When I need you' recorded especially for Brian and Bonnie, and then made a video of the whole thing - featuring - yes you guessed it ME!.

So next time people ask - what are Schnautzers bred for - I will be able to include - 'Acting' in my reply. Although - come to think of it - I was also featured in the SAS Band video - so I'm something of an old pro in the acting game.

JOHN's NIGHT OUT

My good friend John Bowen (who has three very well trained dogs - who taught me loads about fox hunting) recently had a nasty health scare. Its called cancer. Not very nice I can tell you. He needed a chunk of money to go to the special vet for Humans.

As another of my special skills is music promotion, I persuaded my dad and Leo to put on a show to raise £10,000 for John to visit the special human cancer vet in a place called Durban.

And so - on July the 4th at The Mitre on Thames, a full house came to see me, and pay their monetary respects to John.

Heres a picture of John with Percy Montgomery (The rugby player) shortly before he became ill.

The capacity of the venue was just 150 - so tickets were at a premium. Mostly they sold for £50.

Hugh Burns started the musical proceeding with an acoustic guitar set - including his spectacular reading of 'Eleanor Rigby'.

Paul Williams joined the house band for a blues medley, before Johns old friend, the gifted and lovely Louis Ribeiro came on to perform four of his best known hits.

During the midshow break - we had an auction. Bob Patmore kindly donated a flight for two in his helicopter with lunch at Hanley Manor thrown in. The raffle for this prize was won by Ollie, my old friend from East Molesey, who paid one thousand pounds for the flight.

Ollie never took the flight though. And not long after, he succumbed to cancer.

And finally the much anticipated arrival of Mr Sayer kicked off a fabulous set that included many of his finest songs.

The house band featured:

Drums - Geoff Dunn

Guitar - Ronnie Johnson

Guitar - Andrew Brel

Bass - Chaz Cronk

Piano - Pete Stone.

Crowd control - Wallace

Heres a rare photo of the band on the night.

Happily we raised the money and John got to go for the treatment in Durban.

At last - after the show - a well earned rest

And as the summer comes to an end - here I am on the riverside with my half brother.

One of my first 'minders' has come to visit - al the way from Florida.

I havent seen him for over a year - but I recognised him straight away. He says its something to do with smell.

Wallace's favorite music, without which none of this would be possible, is available here

This is meditation music - beautiful soundscapes incorporating notes, frequencies and tempos woven into a harmonious musical blend using only positive elements, to raise individual consciousness, align you with the spiritual laws and enable you to upgrade your life experience, helping you enhance and uphold a positive attitude and enjoyment of life. It works great on dogs too. Whenever this music comes on - I lie by the speaker for an uplifitng snooze.
