On tour with the SAS Band - and some poetry from John

Although I've done loads of gigs before - this is my first National tour. This is a ten date National tour with the SAS Band. I like it around the musicians because they are generally much nicer than normal people. And they leave food lying around.

 

All tours start with rehearsals - so here I am rehearsing 'on the sofa with Zoe'...

And in the midst of all this touring malarky - John sent me some of his poetry. Bearing in mind he was ten when he wrote it - I thought it was rather excellent - but then I would - cause I'm his dog.

In India people go around in bed clothes

The one man army
 Dressed in black and firey stripes
 Is waiting for its prey

The king of rains is throwing its fury on India

The colour is killing the dullness

Then there's the orange sea
 The wavery, never ending orange sea.

Houses reaching to the top of the sky,
 Winding and twisting in the air.
Dust and carbon float around,
Day and night.
 People find it hard to breathe
In this environment.

 "What shall we do?" we shout
 But no one answers.
 The humans have killed themselves,
Extinct they are!

 I wish I could go back to the land of men
 For ever and then .....

 

 

On Friday night I went to Chiddingfold for the SAS Band gig at the 'Chidd Club'. It was rainy and windy and dark - and I got left in the car for a whole hour with lots of people walking past - which made me bark a lot - and clearly I wasnt very happy. But then - I got collected and taken inside where it was warm and Sally and Jill made a big fuss of me. I was fed some almonds which I thoroughly enjoyed - and I got to meet loads of nice people...
