Willy Finlayson & the Hurters - Very Much Alive

1992 Press release.
One of the most compelling new acts on the London pub and club circuit at the moment should also strike a familiar chord..... since it is comprised of some of the most established and respected names in British R n' B.

Called THE HURTERS, these guys have paid plenty of dues and suffered their share of don'ts during their illustrious years on the British music scene. For some time now the band have met every Sunday at The Red Lion in Brentford to perform their own brand of soulful Rhythm and Blues to an audience whose support borders on the fanatical.

The band is fronted by former Meal Ticket main man, WILLY FINLAYSON. Willy is well known for his hit single On the air tonight, which received considerable airplay locally, and became a top ten hit in several European countries.

On guitar, former Whitesnake stalwart MICKY MOODY provides his own special brand of virtuosity. Micky, who co-wrote the smash hit Fool for your loving, performs a slide guitar composition, Moody's Mississipi, which confirms his stature as one of the UK's finest slide guitarists.

Continuing the Hurters pedigree line-up is MATT IRVING on keyboards. Aside from his prolific session work, Matt's peerless R & B reputation has been featured on tours by the likes of Chris Rea, Squeeze, Alison Moyet and Paul Young.

On drums is the celebrated sessioneer CHARLIE MORGAN. Charlie has played with artists including Elton John, Kate Bush, Gary Moore, Phil Lynott, George Michael, Tasmin Archer and Tina Turner.

Completing the Hurters line up is NIGEL PORTMAN-SMITH on bass. Nigel has previously featured in the Eric Burdon Band and Stan Webb's Chickenshack.

The Hurter's live reputation is built on real music....music that transcends passing fashion and does not rely on programmed samples to deliver its roots Rock'n'Roll appeal. The repertoire includes I've got news for you, Shaky ground You dont know like I know as well as a rousing version of Willys On the air tonight.
